A team of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) moved into the Organising Committee headquarters on Tuesday. The team would set camp there until it finishes audits of all contracts and projects undertaken by the OC.
The 19-person team, which has four senior members from the CAG, would take stock of R1,620 crore, the amount OC got from the central government for the Commonwealth Games.
We gave them an office space, as they would be here for the time being, auditing all projects and contracts. There are 480 contracts that were signed in the run up to the Games, said a senior OC official.
However, the OC did not take any investigation-related matter lightly.
On Saturday, OC officials denied a team from the Central Bureau of Investigation access to Games-related papers, as the officers did not have identity cards.
As there are multiple agencies involved in the probe, we cannot take any chances, a senior OC official said.
