The Income Tax Department in Andhra Pradesh has found 1.32-lakh duplicate PAN cards from 65,000 groups.
"They have more than one card," Mr D.V. Dharmik, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Hyderabad-1) of Andhra Pradesh, said. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said the Department had issued letters to them.
"We have completed the de-duplication process with regard to 15,600 cases," he added. As part of the national drive, the department had taken up a campaign to weed out the multiple PAN cards held by assessees.
The officials in the State are hopeful of completing the process by the month-end.
