Income tax offices in Mumbai will remain open till 8 p.m. on Saturday to facilitate filing of returns.
This was stated by Chief Commissioner of Income Tax K Venkataramani on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of India too said that it has made arrangements for tax payments beyond banking hours to avoid rush.
The central bank had instructed designated banks like State Bank of India and its associates to receive tax payments beyond normal banking hours to avoid rush.
Cash counters for taxes would remain open till 3.30 p.m. till March 30 and up to 12.30 p.m. on March 31. All cheques and instruments meant for tax payment would be received up to 4.30 p.m. till March 30 and 1 p.m. on March 31.
