Even as the Opposition boycotted the proceedings in the legislative council, the chairman of the council allowed the house to function. Two bills related to the amendments in the Maharashtra Value Added Tax, 2002, were approved unanimously. While one bill was regarding the extension of time for the assessment of sales tax returns, the other dealt with streamlining the refund process for industries falling under the industrial promotion scheme.
