Haryana govt approves amendment to VAT Act
March, 14th 2016

The Haryana government on Thursday approved an amendment to the VAT Act to provide relief to registered dealers who suffered losses on account of goods destroyed or lost during the recent Jat agitation.

The State Cabinet, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, approved the amendment to Section 59A of the Haryana Value Added Tax Act, 2003, in order to provide relief to those registered dealers of the State who suffered losses on account of goods destroyed or lost during the Jat agitation in February, an official release said.

With this amendment, the government would be able to bring a suitable amnesty scheme to cover the affected dealers whose goods were either destroyed or lost in the recent agitation, it said.
