The Indian rupee rose 23 paise at 42.73/74 against the US dollar on Wednesday, ending two day fall as the demand for dollar lowered from refiners due to drop in crude oil prices.
The local currency resumed firm at 42.87/88 a dollar from its last close of 42.96/97 a dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (forex) market.
Meanwhile, global crude oil prices were trading around USD 129 a barrel in Asian trade on Wednesday after hitting a record high of 135 dollars level last week.
