|
June, 30th 2009 |
The Indian Industries Association (IIA), the apex medium and small scale enterprises (MSME) representative body has approached Desh Deepak Verma, principal secretary, tax and registration and Anil Sant, commissioner, commercial tax, to extend the deadline for the annual VAT return filing in view of various difficulties being faced by the dealers.
The IIA in its representation made before the officials said that due to closure of work by commercial tax department staff in field offices from 1 pm to 3 pm everyday since June 16, 2009 and the problems of the server, all the dealers have not been able to file annual VAT returns. Besides, being the first annual VAT return, the dealers have been finding problems in understanding the forms, said Parveen Sadana, president, IIA.
Anil Gupta, senior vice-president said, "We received feedback from all our chapter offices across UP regarding the above problems and hence have now decided to approach the higher ups of the department concerned before the going gets too tough.''
