ICAI - Convocation Ceremony held
June, 08th 2009

In a borderless world, where individual economies have merged within the global order, challenges and opportunities too have undergone a swift change, bringing along with it a need for the Chartered Accountants around the world to upgrade their skills. Today, CAs take on responsibilities beyond their conventional duties and make up the core strength of major business houses by being a part of feasibility studies, raise financial resources, ensure compliance with regulatory framework, capital structure and planning, organizational development, installation of efficient accounting, budgetary control as joint ventures, foreign collaborations, amalgamation, mergers, reengineering etc. to name a few areas.

The Indian Chartered Accountant is a rare combination of knowledge, perseverance and integrity coupled with the acumen of analytical skill and the ability to perform and deliver under pressure. More than that, he is bound by a strict code of ethics, prescribed and governed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, according to which a member of the ICAI is required to be fair, honest and sincere in his approach to any work, professional and/or otherwise assigned to him.

Northern Region of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (WIRC) organized its Convocation on 7th June, 2009 at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi. Scripts were awarded during the Convocation Ceremony under different categories by Honble Dr. Sanjay Sinh, Member of Parliament ,Chief Guest & Shri A.N.Chatterji, Deputy C&AG of India, Guest of Honor of the occasion.

Honble Dr. Sanjay Sinh, Member of Parliament while addressing the gathering said This is a happy occasion for all of us, and a happier one for all the members who have been awarded the Certificates. In this moment of glory, I only wish to reiterate to them the need to keep our nations interests high in their agenda and through their dedication and hard work bring about a development and value creation for the country. Also, they will be worthy bearers of the torch of the Institute and I am sure that they will carry the message of the Institute far and wide.

Shri A.N.Chatterji, Dy. C&AGappreciated the efforts of ICAI and congratulated all the members who were given the certificates. He also added Life is a mysterious maze filled with twists and turns, crossroads and many dead ends. We must try to enjoy the journey at every point. Even the errors and disasters we create must eventually serve some purpose, if nothing more than to give us deeper appreciation for our triumphs, and teach us the way not to go. So, enjoy the hills and valleys with which the road of life challenges you and dare to take that road less traveled. Every moment is ephemeral and can never be duplicated.

Addressing the gathering CA Uttam Prakash Agarwal, President, ICAI congratulated all members present on this momentous day. He said It is encouraging to note that our students are able to enter corporate life at high levels with corresponding compensation packages. Also, students who have passed out of the Institute in previous years are occupying senior positions in industry both in India and abroad. We know that we are on the right track when we get frequent messages from our alumni expressing their happiness and gratitude for what they gained at ICAI. Our students have been worthy ambassadors of the Institute and I am sure the current outgoing batch will also follow the trend. He also reiterated that An India Chartered Accountant has emerged as a complete Business Solution provider and is now recognized globally.

He also said that The Institute will be signing an MRA with Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia on July 3rd 2009 in Agra at the International Conference being organized by the Institute. Also, an MRA with Institute of Chartered Accountants in Canada is under progress. He advised all the students to always remember Code of Ethics and keep the interest of nation as their top priority.
