The gazetted officers of Surat Central Excise and Customs-I and II affiliated to All-India Association of Central Excise and Customs Gazetted Executive Officers have started an agitation to protest against the proposed transfer policy of Gujarat Customs zone on Friday. Official sources said detailed discussions were held with the chief commissioner of Customs, Gujarat zone between May 26 to May 31.
Subsequently a unanimous decision was taken to protest against the proposed transfer policy for group 'b' gazetted and group 'b' non-gazetted officers.
The gazetted and non-gazetted Customs and Central Excise Officers wore black badges to show their opposition to the proposed policy and also began a relay fast.
Naresh Dahiya, secretary of Surat unit of All-India Association of Central Excise and Customs Gazetted Executive Officers, said, "If the administration fails to deliver justice, then the members are left with no option but to proceed on an indefinite fast or go on strike in future."
