State-run power utility NTPC has said it will release the remaining Rs 30 crore sponsorship money to the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee after getting an audited account.
"It is not that we have withdrawn the sponsorship... We have asked them (Organising Committee) that we would release the remaining Rs 30 crore after they provide audited accounts," company chairman Arup Roy Choudhury said on Friday.
Asked when NTPC would release the remaining money, as just a fortnight is left for the event, Roy Choudhury said, "The conducting of the big event is not dependent on this advertising money (to be paid by NTPC)."
NTPC is the Games partner and has ramped up its generation capacity with units dedicated to keeping the capital energised during the Games. It had committed a sponsorship of Rs 50 crore and had paid up Rs 20 crore.
