The rupee, which had touched an over four-month high yesterday, weakened by 14 paise to 45.15 against the US dollar in the early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange today as the American currency firmed up against major currencies.
Besides, weak sentiment on the stock markets also weighed on the rupee sentiment.
Forex traders said weakness in other currencies against the dollar and a weak opening on domestic bourses mainly put pressure on the rupee.
The rupee had gained 24 paise to touch an over four-month high of 45.01/02 against the US dollar in the previous session on the back of record portfolio investments amid firm equity markets.
