Tax bar associations of the state have demanded that the excise and taxation department should process VAT refunds at a faster pace. They have also sought new notifications or rules should either be applicable from the new year or new quarter rather than any time as per present rules. These points were raised by the heads and representatives of various tax bar associations of the state during a meeting with state excise and taxation commissioner Rajat Aggarwal at Chandigarh.
President of the of Punjab Tax Practitioners Association (PTPA) Ashok Kumar Juneja and secretary general BR Kaushal said that during the meeting with the commissioner, several measures for smooth working of department were discussed and the association also demanded that that surveys, searches and inspections should be conducted only on solid grounds. They added that the issue of pendency of new registration certificates (RCs) was also brought to the notice of the excise and taxation commissioner and it was requested that RCs be issued at the earliest.
Aggarwal assured the association members that he would look into their demands and these would be resolved at the earliest. He added that the new RCs would be issued within a month. Others present in the meeting included, Kashmiri Lal Goel, Bal Krishan, Satish Dhingra,Sushil Jindal, ,Ajay Chaudhary , Rupinder Kansal , Tarlok Bhalla, Arun Kanwal, Varinder Sharma, Saket Garg, Vivek Sharma, Vinay Sharma, H.S. Ghai and officials of department DETC J.K Jain, Neelam Chaudhary, Parneet Shergill, Shivani Gupta, J.K. Jain DETC, Bhupinder Gupta & Satwant Singh were also present during the meeting.
