If you thought 'all is well' for you now under the Direct Taxes Code (DTC) Bill, 2010, presented in the Parliament at the close of its monsoon session six weeks ago, you may very well be mistaken.
Wait until you hear tax consultant Mukesh Patel, who will make an analytical presentation on 'Cracking the Code - Pains and Gains for Taxpayers and Investors under the revised DTC.' This programme, to be held on Friday at 6.30 pm at Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA), is open for all interested.
Readers will recall that TOI's campaign 'Cracking the Code', in 2009, when the initial draft of DTC was placed for public debate, was not only overwhelmingly responded to, but also paved way for several important changes which came to be announced by the finance minister Pranab Mukherjee in the Revised Discussion Paper on DTC.
However, it is time to understand the devil in the fine print as it gets analyzed threadbare for you today.
