The investigation wing of the Income Tax Department, Ludhiana, conducted an income tax (I-T) survey on Nikka Mal Jewellers in Lajpat Nagar market here today.

A team of the I-T wing, Ludhiana, accompanied by the police, landed at Nikkamal Jewellers around 4 pm and partially shut the shutters of the showroom. Sources said not only Jalandhar, surveys were conducted simultaneously at all outlets of these jewellers in Punjab.

Sources further said that the move was initiated as the group was found to have invested heavily in real estate business and the returns shown in their I-T statement were not as per the investments made by the group.
