Elections for regional, central council of ICAI held

The elections for regional and central council members of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) were held on Saturday at Income Tax office, Civil Lines. In all, 35 candidates contested for 14 vacant posts in regional and central council. The results will be declared in the first week of January.

MM Upadhyay, chairman, Raipur Branch of ICAI informed that for regional council, 21 candidates have contested against 9 posts in the council. Similarly for central council, 14 contenders contested against 9 vacant posts. There are in all 619 votes in Raipur branch and about 50 per cent of the valid voters exercised the votes, said Upadhaya. He informed that besides Raipur elections were also held in Bilaspur, Durg-Bhilai branch and Raigarh chapter of ICAI. The elections for the chairmen of the branches will be held in January, Upadhyay concluded.
