Heavy pressure is mounting on the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on account of the falling tax collection figure. Various party representatives including the main opposition party - Congress, have already pressurized the corporation administration for its poor show on tax collection. Now it's the turn of the Maharashtra Rajya Mahanagar Palika Kamgar Karmachari Sanghatna and Nagari Seva Raksha Samiti to highlight the issue.
The federation along with the Nagari Seva Raksha Samiti will organise a state-level convention on 'Save Octroi, Save AMC' on January 12, 2013 at 10.30 am. The event will be held at Marathwada Sahitya Parishad near Roxy Cinema in the city. Mayor Kala Ojha will inaugurate the seminar while well-known labour leader Sharad Rao will preside over the function. Deputy mayor Sanjay Joshi, standing committee chairman Vikas Jain, leader of the house in AMC, Raju Vaidya and opposition leader Zafar Khan will be the guests of honour on the occasion. In addition to this, labour leader Bandu Pradhan, corporators Milind Dabhade, Sameer Rajurkar, Afsar Khan and Vijendra Jadhav will be the special invitees. Municipal commissioner Purushottam Bhapkar will also attend the convention.
The chief guests on the occasion will be members of the Minimum Wages Advisory Committee namely, Mahabal Shetty of Mumbai, Shashikant Zinzurde of Pimpri - Chincwad Municipal Corporation, Suresh Thakur of New Mumbai Municipal Corporation and others.
The participants will discuss various issues related to the corporation and its functioning. Deliberations on issues like privatisation of tax collection, salaries of the employees, recruitment of employees as per the norms, regularisation of contract basis workers, regularisation of private computer operators and promotions of staff members in the corporation will be held.
