There were instant answers to questions on tax foxing many citizens on Monday morning, as the phone-in organized by The Times of India on SAS 2009 went online. At the phones were two BBMP officials -- DC (resources) U A Vasanth Rao and DC (high value assessment) I Ramakant, turning The Times of India office on M G Road into a `BBMP revenue office' for a few hours.
There was a flood of queries -- ranging from self-occupied properties, vacant lands to unoccupied tenanted portions of homes.
And here's some good news for property owners who have been struggling for help on tax calculations. BBMP is coming up with a few initiatives -- one is a two-hour interactive training session (10.30 am to 12.30 pm) on property tax for resident welfare associations, to be held at the Urban Research Health Institute (IPP centre) in Malleswaram on Wednesday.
Besides, the Palike will also be setting up a hotline exclusively for property tax queries shortly. It will be open from 11 am to 2.30 pm every day. The helpline for tracking help centres -- 22222753/22276151. (Note: This helpline is only to get information on help centres).
