India has collected INR2.77 trillion in direct tax revenue so far this fiscal year through March, the chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes said Wednesday. "This (revenue) is a growth of 8% over the corresponding period last fiscal year," S.S.N. Moorthy told Dow Jones Newswires on the sidelines of a tax conference.
Moorthy said he is hopeful of achieving this fiscal year's aim of INR3.7 trillion in direct tax revenue. "We are working toward it," he added.
