The Government has appointed Mr Justice Mr P.V. Reddi, a retired judge of the Supreme Court of India, as Chairman of the Authority for Advance Rulings (Income-Tax) for three years.
An official release said that he would also hold an additional charge of Chairman of the Authority for Advance Rulings (Customs and Central Excise) for three years. Mr Reddi has already taken charge of the two authorities. The AAR (Income-Tax) has been working since 1993. This Authority was constituted by the Central Government for the benefit of non-residents to enable them to obtain rulings on issues, which could arise in the determination of their income-tax liabilities in India.
