Two students from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Chennai walked away with the first prize, at the regional round of the Tata Crucible Campus quiz 2013, held here on Sunday. Bhargav K and Francis Anto will compete with winners from seven other cities in the North Zone finals of the quiz.
Coming in second in an exciting finish were Lathish Venugopal and Vrijesh Patel from the Great Lakes Institute of management in Chennai. Hosted by witty quiz master Giri ‘Pickbrain’ Balasubramaniam, the 9th edition of the quick-paced inter-collegiate business quiz received an enthusiastic response from the city’s youngsters. A total of 104 teams competed in the preliminary written round, of which teams from 6 colleges — LIBA, IIT-Madras, Madras School of Economics and SVCE — qualified for the finals, apart from the two winning teams.
The winning team was awarded prize money of ` 75,000 and the runners up won an award of `35,000. The boys from Chennai, however, will have to get through the zonal rounds and the top two teams from each zone would battle it out for the Tata Crucible Campus Quiz title at the National Finals to be held in Mumbai on April 14, 2013.
The ‘mega International Final’ of the Tata Crucible Campus Quiz will be organized in Mumbai where the winners and runners-up from the Indian edition will compete with the winners and runners up of the Singapore and UK editions to win the International Championship title.
The winners of the national finals will win `500,000. The business quiz, believed to be the country’s best is inducted separately for colleges, corporates and TATA employees.
