As part of a tax reform initiative, the government has decided to put in the public domain next month a discussion paper on the Direct Tax Code, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee told Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

While initiating a discussion on the finance bill, he said a quick round of consultations with some of the major stakeholders would begin shortly.

Even as Mukherjee admitted that double-digit food inflation was deeply worrying, the government pointed to the first signs of the trend softening.
