Fast-track courts needed for trials of crimes against women:
April, 12th 2012
NCP MP Supriya Sule today said here that fast-track courts were necessary to try the cases of atrocities against women, such as rape and dowry harassment. She was addressing a gathering of women at Kalidas Kala Mandir here after a pad-yatra from Hutatma Smarak to protest female infanticide and sex determination tests, organised by Yashwantrao Chavan Pratisthan to mark birth anniversary of 19th century social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. Sule said that female infanticide was on the rise in the country, which was a worrying trend. Interacting with reporters later, Sule said NCP had decided to bring girls aged between 18 to 35 into political stream, and was going to form Rashtrawadi Yuvati Congress for this purpose, on June 10 in Mumbai.
