FCI sprang a surprise on Chennai Customs, winning 3-0, in the St. Joseph’s-Chennai Football Association senior division league here on Monday.
Twice the champion and twice the runner-up in the last four years, the fancied Customs side now languishes in seventh place with more losses (3) than wins (2).
John Paul opened the scoring in the fifth minute when he sent a well-taken volley into the top left corner off a cross from J. Arun Gilbert. FCI doubled the lead in the 54th minute when a solo run by Jude Felix Nixon resulted in a goal. G. Praveendran rounded it off with a third.
