The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India - Doha Chapter, recently organized a seminar on Impact of Weak US dollar on World Economy and Basics of Fraud, at Ramada Hotel.
Mustafa Zacour, Head of Audit and Compliance, AlFardan Holding Group, and Grant Jackson, Head, Treasury and Investment, Ahli Bank, were the keynote speakers.
"Eighty-four percent of the worst frauds worldwide are committed by people that have been in the organization for over five years because they know the controls of the company," said Mustafa Zacour. "One of the most important things a fraud examiner needs to do is establish a baseline in order to know the person's body movements and observe the changes to try and see if the person is being untruthful or hiding something," he added.
Jackson spoke on developments in the world economy and a number of events over recent years that set the scene for the current low interest rates and inflation, and how this scenario has ultimately led to the credit crisis and liquidity gridlock that the financial markets are experiencing.
