Tuesday, India's Customs duty collections for the month of May 2008 rose 25.2% to Rs.10, 205 crores from Rs.8, 148 crores in May 2007, showed a release of Ministry of Finance. The customs duty collection up to May 2008 grew 25.1% to Rs.19, 223 crores from Rs.15, 369 crores in the same period last year.
The release said that the Excise duty collections for the month of May grew 4.4% to Rs.9, 583 crores from Rs.9, 175 crores in the same month of previous year. The excise revenue realized up to May 2008 grew 0.9% to Rs.15, 993 crores from Rs.15, 848 crores in the same period last year.
The release also showed that Service Tax collections for the month of April grew 40% to Rs.6, 093 crores from Rs.4, 352 crores in the same month last year.
