In order to facilitate the assesses, income tax offices will remain open till 8 pm on July 30 and 31. July 31 is the last date for the income tax assesses of non-audit section ti file returns.
The income tax officers clarified that PAN number was a must for filing returns and no return will be accepted without a PAN number. Fine worth Rs 10,000 will be imposed on the assessee who will mention wrong Pan number in the return.
The Association of Young Lawyers has welcomed the step taken by the Income Tax department. Jatinder Khurana, president of this association, said that providing more to time on July 30 and 31 will help the assesses a great deal.
