Even as the indirect tax kitty during the first four months of this fiscal shrunk by 28 per cent when compared to last year, the government expects to meet the budgetary target of about Rs 2.7 lakh-crore reading the signs of revival in economy.
"We expect better figures in future. I am hopeful we will meet the target," Central Board of Excise and Customs Chairman V Sridhar told PTI.
Sridhar said that there are some sectors which are showing growth in revenue and this gives the government enough scope to say that the tax collection figures in excise, customs and service tax would improve.
"I would not say individually in customs, excise and service tax there would be improvement but together the three would be good," he said.
