Radio spots on service tax planned |
|
September, 18th 2006 |
With radio seeing a revival in recent years, the Finance Ministry is keen to use this medium to improve service tax compliance in the country.
The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) plans to come up with a series of radio spots to reach its target segment of service providers, manufacturers and general public to promote the culture of voluntary compliance.
Proposals have been called for production of radio spots (tentatively 30/40 seconds) on service tax. For 2006-07, the Centre has budgeted service tax collections at Rs 34,500 crore.
This is against the revised estimate of Rs 23,000 crore for 2005-06.
