The placements in smaller centres (cities) are almost over and the bigger centres (metros) are currently on," said ICAI President Subodh Kumar Agrawal. More than 50 companies including Wipro Limited, Vedanta Resources, Bharti Infratel , Cairn India, Coca-Cola India, Genpact, HCL and Tata Consultancy Service have participated in the recruitment programme. The average salary expected to be offered to candidates through this drive is estimated to range between Rs 6-7 lakh per annum which is almost the same as last year.
The ICAI conducts two placement drives annually, one in February-March and the other in August-September.
According to Agrawal, more than 8,000 students qualified as chartered accountants in July this year, of which nearly 4,800 registered for the campus placements in August-September. The others have found jobs through direct recruitment.
The campus placement programme conducted in February - March, 2013, saw participation from 58 organisations and more than 7000 candidates. More than 900 jobs were offered with Bharti Airtel offering the highest domestic posting at Rs. 16.55 lakhs per annum to five CAs. Four candidates were offered the highest salary (Rs. 21 lakhs) in international posting by Alghanim Industries.

The Committee for Members in Industry (CMII) of the ICAI takes care of the interest of the members working in the industry and organizes these campus placement programmes for newly qualified as well as experienced Chartered Accountants. The CMII also conducts an orientation programme for candidates to hone their soft skills and to provide them with technical updates.
