ICAI to sensitise firms about significance of cost management

The Institute of Cost Accountants of India will this week sensitise companies about significance of cost management, through its theme 'Business Sustainability and Cost Management'.

The institute is celebrating 'Corporate Cost Management Week' across six major cities -- Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai -- from September 8 till September 13.

"The objective of the corporate cost management week is to spread the message that cost management is essential irrespective of whether the company is operating in a competitive environment or not," the institute said.

U2opia Mobile launches new 'WOO' app

* Tech firm U2opia Mobile today said it has expanded its app 'Woo', which connects singles in the city, to users in the Delhi-NCR region.

The app, which was launched in Bangalore two months back, already claims to have 20,000 users in the tech city.

"The app will be available to Android and iOS, which will give a platform to like-minded, urban singles from the same city to connect. We are targeting educated, young, single professionals between the ages of 25-35 years old, for this product," U2opia Mobile CEO and Co-founder Sumesh Menon said.

Unlike other casual dating apps, Woo connects people based on "real" criteria like similar lifestyles and interests rather than arbitrary ones like complexion, weight, caste which are used traditionally, he added.

American Swan ropes in Yo Yo Honey Singh as brand ambassador * Online fashion brand American Swan has signed up Indian rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh as its brand ambassador.

Speaking about the association, American Swan Director and CEO Anurag Rajpal said, "We are glad to announce the latest developments of our brand: our association with Yo Yo Honey Singh and the American Swan brand re-launch in what we hope will be an iconic new avatar".

These major milestones will only cement the evolution of American Swan as the firm takes a constructive leap towards a major expansion across the online space, he added.

American Swan will also launch a new brand video as part of a series of differentiated and engaging campaigns on website, social channels, and mobile properties.

Intex launches 3G Wi-Fi data cards for Rs 2,530 onwards * Domestic handset maker Intex today said it has launched two 3G wireless data cards, priced Rs 2,530 onwards.

Users can enjoy high speed Internet (with download speeds of 21.6 Mbps and 14.4 Mbps) by simply plugging the device without having to worry about installing the device to a computer or a laptop, Intex said in a statement.

The data cards also support Wi-Fi hotspot, enabling the user to share connection via Wi-Fi with up to eight gadgets, it added.
